Executive Summary
Prospect Heights Dollars for Scholars is a
501(c)3 not-for-profit organization
providing scholarships to college-bound
students who live in Prospect Heights and
Wheeling, Illinois. The purpose of Prospect
Heights Dollars for Scholars is to expand
access to educational opportunities to high
school graduates residing in the City of
Prospect Heights and the Village of
Wheeling. Our goal is to involve and assist
our community in the support of students and
the encouragement of educational
achievement. Prospect Heights Dollars for
Scholars is a community-based effort managed
by an all-volunteer Board of Directors
composed of local business professionals and
community leaders.
Currently, the cost of postsecondary
education continues to increase while the
financial aid and scholarships available to
students has decreased. Due to the current
economic situation, many scholarship
providers have reduced the funds available
to students and the State of Illinois has
denied a record number of financial aid
applications. In the current climate, the
scholarships that are available to students
are more important than ever.
In response to this situation, Prospect
Heights Dollars for Scholars is turning to
the community for support of our efforts to
help students meet the cost of college and
post-high school education and become more
successful in life. College doesn’t happen
by chance – community support is vital to
providing students with the opportunity to
attend college and to succeed.
Mission Statement
The mission of Prospect Heights Dollars for
Scholars is to provide local students with
financial aid and with support to pursue
higher levels of academic achievement.
Prospect Heights Dollars for Scholars is a
chapter of Illinois Dollars for Scholars and
Scholarship America.
